New World Makati Hotel's Cafe 1228

If there's a common notion about Christmas, it's that it's the time of the year when everyone gains weight from all the gatherings, reunions, and dinners we attend to celebrate the holidays. I am not exempted from this popular opinion, as my boyfriend and I indulge in the spread of dishes Cafe 1228 has to offer.

Cafe 1228 has most, if not all, of the buffet staples. They have different stations for the different cuisines available.

There's a table in the middle of Cafe 1228 dedicated to meats and cheeses, plus some juice drinks, and kakanin.

The Filipino station includes nilagang baka, dinuguan, and the Filipino favorite lechon.

If you're looking for a healthy and light start, the salad station is where you should head.

Choose from the shrimps and crabs available at Cafe 1228's seafood station located right next to the salad station.

Sashimi, soba, sukiyaki, maki, and tempuras are just a few of the Japanese dishes available at the buffet's Japanese station.

The Chinese station has dimsum, soup, and cold meats. They also have this hot pot station that I wasn't able to try.

Breads, pastas, pizzas, they have all of those at their Italian section.

My favorite part of their buffet is the American station where I had a slice of their rib eye steak. If you're hoping to have a tender meat, it would be best not to have them cook it as they tend to overcook the steak. I requested for a medium meat, but they ended up having it well done.

The American station also has turkey, herbed potatoes, some vegetable gratin, and other meats available for cooking.

Of course, a buffet isn't complete without the sweet finale. They have cakes, panna cotta, tarts, and a crepe/ halo-halo station, to name a few.

I had a lovely time with my beau at New World Makati's Cafe 1228. It doesn't have the best ambiance, but it's got everything you'll want from a buffet.
