Cheeseburgers and Milkshakes at Sweet Ecstasy

by - Monday, April 16, 2018

Word about Sweet Ecstasy being one of the best burgers in Manila started circulating years ago, which got me intrigued as to what made this burger joint achieve so much popularity in this business.

As usual, I bookmarked Sweet Ecstasy right away and waited for the perfect opportunity to try it. Sadly, my craving for burger didn't come as often, which got this plan delayed until this year. I was in Uptown Mall with my boyfriend,. I was looking for a restaurant that I wanted to visit, but I instead  ended up in Sweet Ecstasy. There it was, my chance to finally try out their burgers and weigh in on this burger fever.

You're going to love this Sweet Ecstasy's look, with the red walls filled with 90s-looking posters and diner booths to complete its overall diner vibe.

Cheeseburger Combo (with Fries) P288
I ordered their cheeseburger combo. to be honest, I didn't find anything special about the taste of their patty. It was good, but it wasn't able to beat my current favorite burger. The buns were too soft, not because it was just moist and fluffy, but it was as if it was heated using a microwave. This small matter made a negative impact on my experience. Good thing I had those thick cut fries that I enjoyed.

Nutella Oreo Milkshake P230
I wasn't going to let this visit pass without having a taste of their milkshakes as well. I was told that their bestsellers were the salted caramel, mudpie, and nutella oreo. I was supposed to order the mudpie, as it was recommended by one of their staff. But upon learning that it contained coffee, I had to back out and order the nutella oreo instead. Like the burger, I liked this milkshake, although I didn't find anything special about it. In fact I find it too expensive for P230.

Sweet Ecstasy may have failed to dethrone my favorite burger joint, but this burger joint did serve me good tasting burger, fries, and milkshake that I enjoyed for lunch.
