Ride Your Way Through Lunch with Gerry's Jeepney

by - Tuesday, May 29, 2018

Jeepneys are the most common form of transportation in the Philippines. They form part of our history, and a huge part of our rich culture. In fact, tourists often find our jeepneys fascinating that they make it a point to ride one before ending their visit.

But to us Filipinos, yes, jeepneys are part of what defines our race, but we also know how much of a pain they are on the road! But what if a restaurant decides to make you eat inside a jeepney replica, complete with the paint job, the feels, and even the seats. Would you be up for it?

I was! Gerry's Jeepney is one of the establishments in Maginhawa that I was very keen on visiting. I don't know why, but getting to eat inside one of their jeepneys got me so excited.

Cubao P810
My friends and I ordered their Cubao boodle fight meal, which consists of fish (choice of bangus, hito, or tilapia), chicken barbeque, 4 BBQ sticks, ensaladang talong, salted eggs, and tomatoes. An order also includes 4 drinks (iced tea or pandan tea), 4 rice (upgrade to Jeepney fried rice +P90), and free soup.

I honestly loved the marinade of their chicken and pork bbq. It's sad that our chicken wasn't cooked well, though, or we would've had a better experience. The rice was also okay, although it didn't make much of a difference. The entire meal is supposedly good for 4-6 people. 5 of us shared and tried to finish it, but we failed.

There's an electric fan for each jeepney to help make your visit more comfortable. Although if you don't want to bare the heat, Gerry's Jeepney has an indoor area that has air conditioning system.

Looking back, it was such a simple yet delightfully incredible experience, but it wasn't the food that made the difference, but rather the bonding between us friends (inside the cool jeepneys, of course)
