The Common Good Food Playground at I'm Hotel

by - Saturday, May 26, 2018

The Common Good is a restaurant at I'm Hotel, a luxurious, 5-star hotel located at Makati City. The restaurant aims to create quality and affordable meals by using commonly found local and seasonal ingredients. The result? A great selection of food from the dining concepts guests with different cravings can enjoy.

PAUL AND RANUKA

Green Egg Sandwich
Paul and Ranuka serves healthy, instragammable eats. We were able to try the green egg sandwich, which is a crispy baguette with a thin layer of pesto sauce topped with avocado, quail egg, and feta cheese. It's got the right amount of flavors, with nothing overpowering the other. You can also try their Eggplant and Tofu Salad, another signature on the menu.

AL DENTE (ITALIAN)

Sisig Pizza
The sisig pizza was a bit short of our expectations, mainly because the taste of the sisig wasn't really prominent in the dish. But apart from that, this pizza tasted flavorful. Other signature items on their menu include the lechon rucolina, and salted egg pasta.

EMPRESS JADE (MODERN CHINESE CUISINE)

Dimsum Platter

I was really excited about the dimsum platter, but it was disappointing. The siomai was okay. The hakaw tasted like it had flour inside instead of shrimps. And the beancurd was too salty. I hope this is just an isolated case.

PARILLA (BARBECUE AND GRILL SECTION)

Open Pit Peri-Peri Roasted Chicken
The peri-peri chicken was great since it wasn't dry. Nothing special, but I surprisingly liked it with their sauce (which seems to be chili?).

ONE BOWL WONDER

The ebi tendon was to my liking. It had a light but crispy batter, with shrimp cooked to perfection, drizzled with a slightly sweet and salty sauce. Other items to consider are their katsu wasabi donburi, and Hong Kong rice & toppings.

PERFECT FOUR

Nasi Lemak
I have high standards for nasi lemak, since my favorite one is served at a really nice, quite expensive restaurant. This nasi lemak, however, could've been better, if it wasn't all rice. The combination of the egg, onion strings, and peanuts with the pandan rice just wasn't enough. Other signature items include the salt and pepper pork ribs, and braised tofu in mushrooms.

TIFFIN

Roti Paratha with Prawn Masala
Now, if there's something I'll come back for from The Common Good, it's the roti paratha with prawn masala. It's a must-try.

SUCRE (FRENCH WORD FOR SUGAR)

Mango Honey Brioche Toast with Homemade Ice Cream
The brioche toast had a nice, crunch, and it complemented so well with the mango slices, small pearls, and ice cream. This dessert had a light, not-so-sweet, refreshing taste.

FOUNTAIN

Ginumiis Granita
At first sip, the ginumis granita tasted weird. But after the second one, I started to get the hang of it, especially since it reminded me of the bars of "candy" made from coconut sugar that I used to love when I was a child.

OTHER BUFFET ITEMS

A trip to this buffet would be better right after getting a massage from I'm Onsen Spa! Book their all-inclusive spa package with a 60-minute massage and buffet for only P1,800! How exciting, right?!
