Black Sugar and Random Tea Room at Maginhawa

by - Monday, August 06, 2018

It was my first time in StrEAT Maginhawa Foodpark, and I had a lot in mind that I'd like to try, but ended up ordering a dessert and a tea drink instead.

Random Tea Room
Black Sugar and The Random Tea Room are situated next to each other, and are actually sister brands, which I found out later on.

Birthday Churro Loops P75
I tried the churro loops covered with a baby blue-colored vanilla glaze and colorful sprinkles. I actually ordered this one just because it looked so inviting, but I didn't enjoy it that much. The churro itself tasted a bit bland and lacking the nice, sweet crisp I know a churro has. The vanilla glaze also wasn't able to compensate for that missing flavor. For me, nothing will beat the epic combination of the churros and chocolate dip. But if you're up for it, you can try their sundaes instead.

Thai Cheese Tea P90
The Random Tea Room was something I didn't think about having. But since it was a hot day, I wasn't able to resist getting a tea drink from this baby pink store. I tried their Thai cheese tea, which is basically just tea topped with cheese mousse. The mousse wasn't bad, but it certainly isn't the best out there. But when I tried mixing the drink altogether, I sort of got the taste of the thai milk tea (sort of, but not quite hehe), and I was able to appreciate it better.

StrEAT Foodpark in Maginhawa may be smaller than most foodparks I've been to, but a lot of the stalls here offer a variety of promising dishes, with some interestingly unique ones.
