The Lugaw Craze in Poblacion is Real!

by - Friday, September 27, 2019

I have been eating goto ever since I can recall. It's a well-known, go-to comfort food for us Filipinos. It's a pretty basic dish you can easily have when you want to, something I thought that practically tastes the same as every other goto there is. And so I was very impressed to discover a place that changed the way I feel about what I once thought as a plain, old, boring goto.

Lugaw Manila is this year's small discovery that I can't stop thinking about. It's located in Poblacion, Makati, and caters to those who wants a late night snack, or wants a cure for hangover.

Goto Fiesta P145

Goto Fiesta P145

The goto fiesta is their goto variant loaded with bagnet, chicharon bulaklak, egg, tofu, garlic bits, and chopped spring onions. Mix it all together, add a few squeezes of calamansi and enjoy! Make sure to savor every spoonful of it, though, as you'll surely crave for it once you finish that bowl (I know I did)

Fried Lumpia P35

Fried Lumpia P35

Their fried lumpia was also a bit unique as it had the right balance of sweet and salty. It had your typical veggies in their, plus some raisins and sweet potatoes. You can also pour some of their homemade vinegar for added contrast of flavors. This could've been perfect if their vinegar was more sour, but that's just because I love adding sharper tasting vinegars in my food.

Goto Forever P245
They have this offer called Goto Forever wherein you can enjoy unlimited refills of goto, including toppings like bagnet, chicharon bulaklak, lumpia, tofu, and laman! This looks very inviting, but I don't think I can finish that much bowl in one sitting.

Goto Emergency P80
Lugaw Manila also has a special offer for those who like spicy food. Goto Emergency is their spicy goto. It comes in 4 levels - x1, x2, x3, and x4. I ordered one x1  for my sister just before I went home, and she loved it. Just the first level already got a kick to it, so I just can't imagine how spicy the level 4 can be!

Iced Tea
They also have their own houseblended iced tea made with black tea and dried mangoes! It's a certainly unique and refreshing take on iced tea!
